The southeast is one of the most popular of the nine regions in England and is home to the counties of Berkshire, Kent, Isle of Wight, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex. With all of those counties located in the region it is no surprise that the area is a hotbed of campervan hire; southeast England is the perfect mix of modern culture, scenic landscape and historical destinations. What types of campervans are there?

The southeast is home to many of the UK’s leading campervan hire companies and choice is not something that is lacking. There are different types of campervan that you can choose from and plenty of different sized vehicles also.

Amongst the most popular campervans on the market are the VW models, these are available in the classic Type 2 style commonly seen in the 1960’s and 70’s, the T25 model which was popular in the 1980’s and the modern T5 which is more suited to modern camping and heavy-duty travelling. The VW’s offer seating and sleeping space from 2-5 people depending on the model and the classic models will have generally been refurbished to present a more up-to-date interior and features.

Motorhomes are a more complete type of campervan and come in sizes ranging from 2-7 berths; they tend to offer more space that what is found in a VW and come with more added features such as a toilet and shower. Motorhomes will also have larger engines making them more suited to long-distance travel.

The Mazda Bongo is another popular choice of campervan hire, southeast based companies may offer the Bongo as an alternative to the VW and although much the same in term of features and sleeping space (2-4 berth), the Bongo is generally thought to be more economical and reliable.
